Composting for beginners. Easily the number 1 tip I can give you to create better compost is to turn the pile and make it taller. You do this by sectioning off your compost bin.

As compost rots down, it compresses. So when you need to turn it, you need to put it somewhere smaller than where it has just been to keep the height of the pile fairly tall. This simple yet effective hack is well worth it!

A taller pile = more heat = faster compost.
