Easy to DIY Compost Bin using wood pallets

The one thing that’s missing and that I desperately need on my allotment is a compost pile. There’s just so much waste material I have from clearing the new plot and I want to reuse it rather than get rid of it.

Right now I have a plastic compost bin but it’s really not cutting it. It takes such a long time for material to break down in mine and I think that’s because it’s not large enough to create a warm composting environment. I also don’t have that many worms so they’re not helping with breaking down the material either.

I’ve decided to dedicate space at the bottom of my new plot for good-sized composting units. Using heat-treated wood pallets, I create the first bay in this video and then begin filling it with waste material, grass clippings, and spent coffee grounds from a local coffee shop. Coffee grounds have a neutral pH once they’ve been brewed and are a great ‘green’ material to add to compost.
