Razburljiva sezona je za Vrtom Obilja. Čeprav je bilo vse podrejeno selitvi in naraščaju, je bila samo vrtna sezona izjemno uspešna. Danes te bom čez vrt popeljal sam, saj Tjaša pazi na dojenčka. Videli bomo celoten vrt, nasad kostanjev, namakalni sistem z vrtino in akumulacijskim jezerom ter novi kozolec – vse kar zaokroža najino novo kmetijo.

Gre za posest v velikosti 1,75 ha in je že več generacij bila lastna kmetija. Ker že 15 let ni nobene živel v hiši je okolica nazadovala, njive pa so bile v najemu. Lanski september smo uredili 300 m ceste in s količki začrtali kje bo kaj. Dejansko smo pri urejanju kmetije šli navzven proti navznoter – torej ureditev ceste, čiščenje gozdnega roba, ograj, zasaditve … čisto na koncu bo na vrsti šele hiša.

Prestavljanje vrta je bilo postopno – začeli smo z poravnavo terena in nato s prestavljanjem prvih dvignjenih gred iz stare lokacije. Sama zasnova vrta je enaka kot na stari lokaciji. Ni nič večji – le izgleda večji zaradi ograje ter dodatnih obrobnih gred za rože, zelišča, šparglje Zakaj nekaj spremeniti, če deluje. Še vedno je to vrt za najine oz. po novem bolje rečeno za naše družinske potrebe.

Grede smo na koncu pripravili s pomočjo kompostne zastirke in lesnih sekancev na vrtnih poteh. Nič pretresljivo novega. Le zato, ker smo na novi, s plevelom bogati zemlji, je bila prva plast papir – da je zadušil in ustavil rast plevela.
