It seems like everyone is always talking about using eggshells in the garden. They can be valuable but there are also some myths that get bounced about a lot, so I wanted to give my view on them.

I also wanted to show you guys the way I prepare eggshells to use in my garden and it may be a bit different and a wee bit longer (but not much) than other methods.

Pritisk plevela zmanjšamo že z neprekopavanjem in uporabo kvalitetnega komposta brez semen plevela. Da smo na varni strani (ziher je ziher) pa vsekemu priporočava še slepo okopavanje pred začetkom vrtnarske sezone, da zmanjšamo pritisk plevela kasneje v sezoni. 🙂

I figured I’d post this now for y’all further south- I still have some snow on the ground, and things don’t normally start growing here in the Northeast at least until late April.
In this video I will show you the proper way to plant field grown (ball & burlap) trees & shrubs. The two most critical things to do is to cut the burlap & twine away from the trunk, and to plant it at the correct grade, based on the root flare: The root flare (crown) is a part of the tree or shrub which the root system and stem meet. It also will greatly help to mix some compost into your soil at the time of planting. I wouldn’t worry about fertilizing until the plant is rooted in well. It’s best to plant marginally hardy plants as early in the season as you safely can. Be sure also, if the plant was started early in a greenhouse, even if it’s something that could normally be planted sooner, you run the risk of damaging that plant by planting it too early and then having called knock it back.
