There’s far more mystique around the ‘art’ of making compost than there should be. If you have a shady area in the garden and a standard compost bin then you have a good start to making compost using the cold method. It takes a longer than a larger pile to break down but is far easier.

In this video I show you how I make my compost at home and how I’m turning it this time of the year. I literally just add a mixture of greens and browns (explained in the video) in a casual manner. No scientific ratio, taking temperatures, or any other faff necessary. After 9-12 months it’s ready to be used.
