On my trip to NYC, I had to stop by a mythical urban farm on top of a Whole Foods in Brooklyn, NY, where they grow 13+ different types of greens and herbs. It was called Gotham Greens, which is just about the best name for a hydroponic greenhouse you’ll ever hear.

They use nutrient film technique (NFT) channels to grow basil, arugula, leaf lettuce, and more. And better yet, it’s all automated, down to CO2 monitoring, shade clothes, and more. They even make their own line of salad dressings, pestos, and other value-added products with the produce they grow!

There’s so much to learn in this episode, and I’m gonna have to go back to learn about the nuts and bolts of the hydroponic operation as well.

I think urban farming models like this will soon become the norm as we move into a future of food that is going to require MUCH smarter use of our natural resources.

Onions are an interesting crop, as they’re a biennial in nature. That means they grow from seed to a dormant bulb in their first year, and from that bulb to flower (and back to seed) in their second year.

It’s important to take this into consideration when planting onions. You have three options when it comes to planting them:

1. Start onions from seeds
2. Start onions as transplants
3. Planting onion sets

In today’s video we’re going with option #3. It’s a great way to get into onion growing, because you shortcut a lot of the upfront growing time. Onion sets have been forced into dormancy while they’re still immature bulbs. This means they have a chance of going to flower instead of bulbing up.

To avoid this, make sure you select bulbs on the smaller side…they’re less likely to go to seed.

After a few stormy days it’s up to the allotment vegetable garden to see what the damage has been. In this video we have a walk through the plot, take stock on what needs to be done to put the garden to bed, and pick some veggies for dinner.

I also show you the latest progress on the strawberry bed and what the DIY blackberry trellis ( https://youtu.be/avXi5FWzF5k ) looks like after almost a year.

Questions for you:

— I’m looking for a new strawberry variety. One that produces big juicy berries ideal for jam making. Any recommendations?

— What are you doing in your garden right now to prepare it for winter?

And if you haven’t caught it yet, see my latest DIY video on how to make a Sea Glass Succulent Terrarium. It’s a fun indoor gardening project that also doubles as a DIY Christmas gift idea: https://youtu.be/J9QJ186bRaU

Make a mason jar succulent terrarium using just a few materials — including sea glass. These little planters look so pretty on a bright window sill. Make them for yourself or give them as handmade gifts.

When it’s too windy and rainy outside for gardening, bring the garden inside! In this creative DIY video, I’m going to show you how to create easy mason jar succulent terrariums. Not only that but I’m going to use one of my favorite foraged materials in them too — sea glass.

If you live near the beach you might already have a collection already. If not, you could also use marbles or aquarium glass for a similar effect.

These terrariums aren’t closed so they’re not true terrariums. More like small class planters. Set them in an east or west-facing window or in another place with indirect or partial sun. They’ll continue growing through the winter and all the year-round.

Water these succulent planters sparingly. Once a week in summer and once every few weeks in winter. It’s always better to underwater succulents rather than over water.

Ljubezen do sonaravnega vrtnarjenja želita približati mladim in vsem vrtnarjem poenostaviti vrtnarjenje.

Today’s episode is truly EPIC. I met up with Summer Rayne Oakes doing an in-depth tour of her incredible house in Brooklyn, NYC. Summer is known for her website, Homestead Brooklyn and her wildly-popular YouTube series, Plant One On Me.

What makes her house so epic, you ask? She’s created a veritable urban jungle, with 500-700+ houseplants in just about every nook and cranny of her house.

She’s growing some rare and difficult to cultivate species, but also growing in a variety of methods. From sub-irrigated plant walls, to a Biopod, to classic containers, there’s something to learn in this video, no matter what type of indoor gardening you’re into.

Plus…she has Kippee the hen as a pet! I was thoroughly impressed by Summer’s breadth and depth of plant wisdom, as well as how she connects it to a deeper way of life. Truly something special.

I hope you all enjoy today’s video and if you’d like more tours like this, please let me know who I should visit next!

HOW TO START WINTER FLOWER SEEDS AT HOME-FAST N EASY
//FOR WINTER FLOWER N VEGETABLE QUALITY SEEDS (90-95%
GERMINATION RATE) CONTACT MY SEED SELLER Mr. ROHIT ( WHATSAPP NO.

Best time to sow winter flower seeds is from September mid to November mid …or when temperature is between 18 to 28 degree Celsius….Happy gardening take care ..:)

Daizz’s tips:-Growing flowers from seed can be a difficult task for beginning gardeners. Seeds and seedlings are delicate, and the wrong conditions can ruin them fairly easily. In order to achieve the best results, plant your seeds indoors into a small, sterile container using professionally packaged potting soil. Follow the instructions on the back of your seed packet and provide plenty of light and water to your growing seedlings. Once the flowers have developed strong enough roots, transplant them into your garden.

A check in on the progress of the back garden. I can say now that it’s finally feeling CLEAN and tidy. New paint, cutting the grass, and pressure washing the patio have made a massive difference. With all of that done I can move into converting the grass into a vegetable garden.

The first piece of the new garden design to go in will be a rose arbour. In last week’s garden video ( https://youtu.be/GiGw7E0bpwQ ) I ordered two climbing roses that I’ll plant on either side of a wooden garden arch. Although the roses won’t be here for a while, we’re putting in the arch now. You’ll have your first look at it in this video.

If you haven’t caught it yet, see how I make handmade soap using fresh rosemary: https://youtu.be/jj_vBgYxSUE

Thanks for watching and see you on Friday for the next video. I’m now publishing twice a week on Friday and Sunday evenings. See you soon.
