DAIZZ’S TIP:-They have the smell of rotting flesh, in order to attract the flies which pollinate them. Despite the foul odor of its flower, S. gigantea can act as an appetite suppressant in humans.The plant is commonly referred to as Zulu giant, carrion plant or toad plant (although the name “carrion plant” can also refer to Stapelia grandiflora). Stapelia gigantea sometimes also goes by the name of Stapelia nobilis or Stapelia marlothii.

It’s been weeks of my showing you the new house and garden here on YouTube. Today it’s back to the allotment to see what the damage is! After over a month of very little work in it, I’m giving you a garden tour showing both its weeds and its bounty.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised that it’s not a whole lot worse. I attribute that to adopting the no-dig method with my garden beds this year. Not digging means less weed seeds are uncovered and the mulch helps keep others from growing.

Pea shoots are dead-simple to grow, provided you follow just a few best practices. They’re a large seed and require soaking before you actually plant them. For best results, you’ll want to follow this guide carefully – a lot can go wrong!

I’ve noticed that with peas, you’ll want to go a bit lower than the recommended seed amount. 8-9oz per tray is better than the 11-12oz you see me plant in this video. The soaking process simply makes them too large to fit all of those seeds in the tray, and you’ll get spotty germination!

Quick Pea Sprouts Info:

→ Amount per tray: 9oz
→ Soaking Time: 24-48hr
→ Germination: 24-48hr after soaking
→ Blackout time: 3-5 days
→ Days to harvest: 3-5 days

Microgreens are a nutritional powerhouse that just happen to be one of the easiest types of plants to grow in ANY living space. Even if you’re in a tiny New York apartment, you can grow microgreens. Today we’re growing a spicy lettuce salad mix…a simple mix to grow due to fast and easy germination and minimal issues with mold, etc.

At the end, I’ll show you the simplest way to prepare them in the kitchen to enjoy them at peak freshness. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Robert Špiler in Tjaša Štruc sta po zaključenem študiju leta 2013, s polno glavo idej in mladostne energije, na gozdni jasi sestavila čudovito malo hiško ter poleg vzpostavila velik vrt. Pri vsega 22. letih sta začela živeti svoje preprosto življenje in odkrivati lepote Narave.

Združila sta Tjašino akademsko znanje (mag. biologije in ekologije) ter večletno Robertovo prakso dela na vrtovih po Sloveniji. Po mnogo uspešnih in tudi zgrešenih vrtnih poizkusih, so ostala le najboljša spoznanja – akademska, praktična, družinska, permakulturna in biodinamična, ki jih danes predajata naprej. Na svojem vrtu uporabljata predvsem kompostno zastirko v kombinaciji z ostalimi organskimi materiali, ki zaščitijo zemljo in imitirajo pogoje v Naravi. Tako dosežeta univerzalno rodovitna tla, mnogo manj pleveli in za 95% manj zalivanja; vse to brez prekopavanja ali obračanja zemlje. Prelepo, da bi bilo res? Ničesar ne skrivata, njuno delo, slike, objave, posnetki so dovolj zgovorni sami zase. Najbolje, da grete kar sami pogledat na kakšno izmed delavnic. Starejše vrtnarke in kmetje ob pogledu na zemljo vidijo zgolj trpljenje in delo. Robert vidi vrtnarjenje kot nekaj lahkotnega, kreativnega in sproščujočega, Tjaša pa kot vir okusne hrane, ki jo pridela z užitkom. Ob sodelovanju z Naravo imata tudi veliko razlogov za praznovanje in veselje, ter seveda obilje domačih pridelkov. Mnogi so z njuno pomočjo že občutili veliko čudovitih trenutkov vrtnarjenja in ti božanski občutki so na voljo tudi tebi.

Ljubezen do sonaravnega vrtnarjenja želita približati mladim in vsem vrtnarjem poenostaviti vrtnarjenje.

DAIZZ’S TIP:-Okra is a vegetable that keeps on giving all summer long. When you harvest a pod, another grows in its place. It’s related to the hibiscus plant and produces similarly beautiful flowers. Okra grows best in hot climates.
