The mental image of a lush, green plant overtaking the old brick wall of a centuries-old cottage is enough to make any gardener start a new English ivy plant in their home.

English ivy is a fantastic climber, using its tiny roots to grab on to any surface. It can be used to cover any surface you desire.

Of course, it can be dangerous to grow English ivy outdoors as it is invasive in many regions. But as a houseplant, hedera helix is one of the easiest to care for.

Cregneash is a living folk village on the Isle of Man. Originally a small crofting community, the cottages, and land were acquired by Manx National Heritage to preserve the way of life of 19th and early 20th century farmers and village folk. You can walk into the village, visit the cottages, and learn more about cottage industry and crafts. You can also wander through the gardens that surround the cottages. Here you’ll find a variety of soft-fruit, flowers, vegetables, wildflowers, and medicinal herbs.

In this video, I chat with Karen Griffiths, head gardener at Cregneash about what the gardens preserve of the past. A time when people had to grow their own vegetables, medicine, and household products. Remnants of these days are still alive and thriving with every ancient seed that gets uncovered and begins to grow.

In this video:
✽ Interview with Karen Griffiths, head gardener at Cregneash
✽ Learning how important having a small garden was to people a century ago.
✽ A look a the medicinal herbs growing at Cregneash
✽ Clips from walking around the site and speaking about plants and their uses
✽ Annual wildflower patch for bees, butterflies, and birds

My first tour around the gardens of Cregneash including photos of what it looks like GREEN and also a hundred years ago: https://lovelygreens.com/the-gardens-of-cregneash/

Today we’re taking a look at my friend Marco’s system, the Aponix vertical barrel growing system. It can be either soil or hydroponic, but you’ll see me set it up as a hydroponic system in this video.

Vertical hydroponics is one of the THE MOST PRODUCTIVE ways to grow in small, urban spaces due to its high yield and low footprint.

What I like about this system is that the parts are mostly available at hydroponic retailers or Amazon, unlike fancier systems like the Tower Garden which try to lock you in to their products and nutrients.

HOW TO GROW FENUGREEK/METHI AT HOME -FAST N EASY WITH FULL INFORMATION/GROW FENUGREEK IN A CONTAINER
Daizz’s Tip-Fenugreek plant does not like to be transplanted after germination, so the fenugreek seeds should be sown at the final place. It grows best when temperature is between 10 to 30 degree Celsius (50 to 86 Fahrenheit )
Fenugreek/Methi leaves will be ready to harvest within 3-4 weeks. just chop the fenugreek leaves from the top of the plants as and when you need it in the kitchen. This will encourage more growth and you will be able to harvest again fresh leaves after 2 weeks.

It’s the middle of summer and the veggie garden is in full production. Today’s video is a fun one and all we do is walk around the garden picking berries and veg for two meals. I also harvest the first of the cabbage and the no-dig potatoes — I still can’t believe how easy they were to harvest!

In this video:
✽ Picking blueberries, raspberries, & gooseberries
✽ Harvesting the first cabbage of the year
✽ Pulling up ‘No-dig’ potatoes
✽ Plucking chamomile flowers for tea & beauty
✽ Picking calendula flower petals
✽ Cutting enough sweet peas for a bouquet
