I had planned to plant bare-root strawberry plants a couple of months ago but as you know, it’s been a very cold start to spring. The plants arrived at the end of February and instead of chancing it outdoors, I potted the plants up and grew them on in the greenhouse.

It’s now finally warm enough to plant them in the garden! I’ve been given two types of strawberries from Thompson & Morgan to try out — Mara des Bois, that I’ve really been wanting to grow, and Just Add Cream, a new one for me.

The Mara des Bois have always been destined for the allotment garden but I recently decided to plant the Just Add Cream plants in a strawberry pot. The plants are smallish and I think would suit growing in a container.

While we were still down in Florida with Greg Wittstock, The Pond Guy and Team Aquascape after the Massive Pond Build for Paul Cuffaro, we met up with Rob Arrington from Deer Meat for Dinner and discussed plans for an awesome swimming pond for the new house he is building.

Afterwards, Rob took us wild hog hunting at his ranch and taught us a bit about backwoods cooking!
