Taking a last apprehensive look around my garden for a while. I’m leaving my allotment in the middle of summer to spend an entire month in Portugal.

The last time I did this I came back to a jungle.

I’m making a pact to myself now that this is the LAST long summer holiday I’m taking. Next time it’s going to be in January or February when there’s little to do outside.

Read more about why I’m away and see lovely photos over on Lovely Greens: http://lovelygreens.com/2017/07/saying-goodbye-to-the-allotment-garden.html

The genus is quite large, comprising several hundred species that are native to warm-temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. GROW TONS OF LEMONS FROM THESE SIMPLE TIPS…:)THEY ARE SO EASY TO FOLLOW..:)

DAIZZ’S TIPS:-
You want to grow lemons but stop because you run out of space or you don’t grow it because you live in a colder region. If this is your plight then growing a lemon tree in a pot is a smart idea. Plant it on a patio, terrace or in indoors and you will be bestowed by its scented flowers and soft yellow citrus fruits. You can grow it in balcony too, Meyer lemon variety is perfect for kitchen and balcony gardens, especially for non-tropical zones

Choose a pot that is 25% bigger than the root ball of the plant. Clay pot is ideal because unlike plastic it is porous and evaporates water from sides, this helps the lemon tree to grow well as it dislikes being water logged. The quality and type of soil is an important factor too. For growing high yielding plants, use well draining organic potting mix.

Requirements for Growing Lemon Tree in a Pot

Repot your lemon tree in every couple of years or so in the beginning of spring (in tropics winter is the best season). Your pot size should be according to the scale of your tree. Avoid too large or small planters, keep in mind to use a container that is one size bigger than your previously used pot.

*pH level of soil should be around 5.5 to 7 as the plant prefer slightly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Sunlight

All plants in the citrus family love full sun, around 7 to 8 hours of sunlight is essential. If growing indoors use grow light to provide adequate lighting inside.

Watering

The lemon tree requires consistent watering to produce healthy fruits. Giving it too much or too little water can lead to blossom and fruit drop and sometimes plant may die too. Check top 2-inch layer of soil for dryness before watering. On windy and hot days, it requires more frequent watering.

GROW RAIN / ZEPHYRANTHES LILY IN FEW DAYS…:)WITH THESE SIMPLE TIPS..:)
DAIZZ’S TIPS:-
Rain lily plants (Habranthus robustus syn. Zephyranthes robusta) grace the dappled shade garden bed or container, producing adorable blooms following rain showers. Growing rain lilies is not difficult when the right conditions are available to the plant. Rain lily bulbs produce diminutive blossoms in abundance once they’re settled in the right spot.
Also known as Zephyr lily and fairy lily, growing rain lilies are petite, reaching no more than a foot in height and rarely getting that tall. Pink, yellow and white crocus-like flowers bloom from late spring through late summer, sometimes earlier during rainy seasons. Multiple flowers bloom on each stem.

Plant the small rain lily bulbs in well-draining soil before the rainy season. Soil that is rich, holds moisture well and is slightly acidic is preferable for this plant. Place bulbs about an inch deep and 1/2 inches apart. When moving and transplanting rain lily bulbs, any time of year will work if the bulbs are planted quickly and watered in.

Regular watering is important to keep the grass-like foliage of rain lily lush and healthy. Foliage may die back during periods of neglect, but usually returns when watering resumes.

Once they’re established in their bed or container, foliage will spread and blooms multiply.
